Upcoming Six Week Driver's Education

FULL  Spring session begins Saturday, April 13th. Classroom instruction will be Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 am - 12:45 pm at Lane Community College.

Summer session begins June 15th and July 20th. Classroom instruction will be Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00 am - 12:15 pm at Lane Community College.

Classroom sessions and driving lessons will be at Lane Community College.

Behind the Wheel lessons are weekly and will be scheduled separately. Each lesson is approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Students must already have their permit and a minimum of 5 hours behind the wheel practice prior to enrolling in driver’s education.

$425 for teens 15 – 17
$635 for 18 and older

ODOT-Approved Traffic Safety Education

Students must already have their permit in order to enroll.

Driver education includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction, and 6 hours of driving observation.

At the end of the Driver’s Education course from this driving school, students will receive a Certificate of Completion if they pass the course. This certificate can be given to your car insurance company for a potential discount. Be sure to check with your individual insurance company for details.

Classroom Instruction

  • Textbooks and related classroom materials will be provided to the students.
  • There are a total of 5 exams and one final exam.
  • Grades are Pass/Fail based on the student attending all required classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction and a minimum of 80% on tests and activities.
  • Students must demonstrate participation in the classroom and behind-the-wheel driving lessons.

Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

  • Students will complete 6 hours of driving instruction and 6 hours of observation.
  • Each lesson will be conducted on a pre-designated route. After each lesson, the student will receive feedback for practice driving with their parent/guardian.
  • Observation is an activity that is done while the other student is driving that includes participation in a discussion with the instructor about the student driver operating the vehicle.
  • Driving lessons will be conducted in a plug-in EV Hybrid dual-controlled vehicle.
  • Driving School students will pass the driver education course only after demonstrating their ability to perform critical driving tasks, both physical and mental skills.
  • If students, ages 15 – 17, pass the course and the final drive assessment, the DMV drive test will be waived.
  • Students ages 18+ do not qualify for a DMV test waiver.
